Folin Cellars is a family owned and operated winery in Rogue Valley focusing on producing 100% estate grown varietals such as Viognier, Tempranillo and Syrah that are prevalent in this Southern Oregon appellation. The hot summer days and cool nights of this region are ideal for these wines. Quality and care are of utmost importance to winemaker Ron Folin. His winery is designed for gravity feed handling rather than the harsher pumping methods. This quality also shows in that all of their wines are sealed using the innovative Vino Seal closure to ensure that the wines are as the winemaker intended them to be.
The 2006 Viognier Estate has a light lemon-gold color and presents all the best of both the varietal and the terroir. The explosive aromatics demonstrate floral, melon, citrus and orange blossom. On the palate you can taste exotic tropical fruits, citrus, pear, honeysuckle, and floral. The balanced acidity provides a bright, lush and round long finish. This tasty wine will be perfect paired with Columbia Valley salmon, seafood and Asian foods.
Not only is the Rogue Valley the closest Oregon appellation to California but it is also one of the most interesting in terms of the varieties of wines that are available. This area is distinctly warmer than the north part of the state and is loaded with a multitude of microclimates. The primary wine growing regions here are the Applegate Valley, Illinois Valley and the main Rogue Valley.
