Family Winemakers of California Tasting in San Francisco August 22

The 20th anniversary tasting by the Family Winemakers of California takes place at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, August 22 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Plus open 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and 1:00 – 6:00 on Monday to trade only. This is the most comprehensive tasting of California wines in the world, the largest number of wineries, an enormous range of varietals and wine growing appellations from around the state.

Most of the almost 300 wineries are small family run wineries producing under 5000 cases per year. They have a limited outreach to wine tasting markets and are not always the easiest wines to find in your local shop. Over 60 wineries at the Family Winemakers tasting are there for the first time, giving you a chance to taste these wines for the first time.

This is a once a year opportunity and tickets go fast, so get your tickets before August 21 for $55. Tickets are $65 at the door. Here are a couple hints for this massive tasting. Buy your tickets in advance and don’t plan on finding any parking near the event so cab, walk or bus to the event. Also, plan in advance. Check out the list of winemakers and select those you truly want to visit.
